Which Candle to Choose

Choosing a candle on the internet is tricky. In this post I describe my candles the way I would to a friend if they were choosing one.

I’ve given times of day/moods/types of weather that I find go well with each candle.

Your ideas may be different so if in doubt, trust your intuition and go for whichever candle you feel you must have.

Each candle is scented with a blend of five or more essential oils. These oils are extracted from flowers, trees, spices and fruits. The name of each candle is chosen from the two most prominent oils.

Geranium | Vetiver Candle

The fan favorite candle in my collection. Geranium vetiver is the evening wind-down oil blend. As a homebody, I reach for this candle when I've been out all day or away from home. It's earthy, deeply floral aroma helps me to slow down and feel safe and calm again.

Season: Autumn

Hour : Evening/Night

Mood : calming, emotion regulation, grief

A freshly made batch of lemongrass laurel scented candles. The candles are on a table with boxes in the background.

Lemongrass | Laurel Candle

Light this candle when you want to create an inviting atmosphere in your space. The lemongrass Laurel essential oil blend creates a rich, herbal and citrus aroma that is uplifting and encourages a can-do attitude. Laurel oil and the leaves in particular have been used since ancient Greek and Roman times as a symbol of success, strength and triumph. They are still used today as the symbol for the olympic games.

Season: All seasons

Hour: Daytime

Mood: Confidence, mental clarity, focus

Two mint scented candles are styled with a jug of hydrangeas and a blue book.

Mint | Lemongrass Candle

This is my most uplifting and energising oil blend. A great candle to light in the morning when you want to start the day energised and positive. Mint and lemongrass are beautiful oils to breathe in deep duing yoga or meditation practice. This candle is a lovely gift for new parents to make those early mornings a little easier.

Season: Spring/Summer

Hour: Morning/Day

Mood: Tiredness, fatigue

Rosewood | Lavender Candle

I usually light this candle when I have to sit at my desk and do something boring or difficult that I don't want to do. Both rosewood and lavender essential oils are known for their calming and steadying properties. My favorite story about this candle is that a customer once told me she brought hers into the office one day. Everyone loved it so much that it became the office candle. Whoever was having the most difficult day got to have it on their desk.

Season: All seasons

Hour: Day/Evening

Mood: Confidence boost, focus, reassurance, anxiety

Grapefruit Bergamot Scented candle by Bread & Weather

Grapefruit | Bergamot Candle

This personality of this delicate candle is very special to me. It is the most subtle oil blend in my collection. Inspired by snowdrops appearing through frozen ground in midwinter. This oil blend is designed to gently whisper to a hibernating world or body that new life is on the way. This candle is used by one of my customers in her psychotherapy practice to give gentle encouragement to her clients in the therapy room.

Season : Winter/Spring

Hour: Any time but particularly special in the early morning

Mood: Winter blues, yoga/meditation, hibernation

A Cardamom Spruce Scented candle by Bread & Weather

Cardamom | Spruce Candle

This candle is the last word in cosy vibes and will fill your space with the most delicious, comforting aroma imaginable. It has a beautifully rounded aroma that is simply like a hug in a jar. One of the greatest treats in the cold winter months is to light this candle on a dark gloomy day. When the sun is so low that it hardly gets bright at all there is nothing better than having a duvet day with this candle.

Season: Autumn/Winter

Hour: Any time

Mood: Duvet day, Christmas comforts

Cinnamon | Cedarwood Candle

A sister candle to Cardamom Spruce. This blend has a more autumn woodsy background. With Cardamom Spruce you are in a snowy spruce forest in December, with Cinnamon Cedarwood you are at bonfire night in misty October.

A comforting and uplifting oil blend. This candle is a little more energetic than it's sister. I would choose to light this one if I was having visitors on an autumn day. Whereas Cardamom Spruce is more of a 'cover your head with the duvet' blend.

Season: Autumn/Winter

Hour: Any time

Mood: Feeling autumnal
